Holiness as an incarnational representation of God’s love:

A fusion of divinity and humanity addressing human needs in community.

As a holiness people, the overall goal for this Holiness Summit is to invite and challenge all participants to consider significant and specific topics/issues in light of God’s calling of his people to be holy. What does holiness have to say about how we enter into, interact with, “fix”, and talk about these things? While talking is necessary, we have a particular desire to provide Word-meets-flesh opportunities to actually go home and go beyond thinking and talking, to holy action.

We have no goal to “solve” these things for people at the Summit. In fact, this is at the heart of what we’re trying to do: While many have positions or conclusions about doctrinal stances regarding sexuality, immigration, incarceration, and racial harmony, it is our hope to create an atmosphere of exploration and conversation. It’s likely – and our hope – that  participants at the Summit will be diverse in many ways in the things of culture, race, gender, generation, and theology. As such, we are attempting to frame these things in grace-full ways by which people are able to think openly instead of being dismissed categorically. We’ve asked our workshop leaders to present a lot of questions, prompts for further consideration and action, including tangible opportunities by which churches can return home and begin the work of ministry even while they may not “have it all figured out.”

We hope to receive teaching as from Jesus himself: in the form of questions, stories, and in the lives of real people.
