Urban Pastoral Ministry Program – Deadline January 31
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 15
City Mission’s Urban Pastoral Ministry Program (UPMP) is a two year residency for recent seminary graduates who are called to ordained urban ministry. City Mission is now accepting applications for residents for the program’s July 2019 – July 2021 cohort. Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2019. About the Program
The UPMP is a residency for new pastors called to urban ministry in partnership with four congregations in Boston: Bethel A.M.E. Church, Fourth Presbyterian Church in South Boston, First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain, and Old South Church in Boston. Residents will serve as active ministerial staff with the mentorship of established pastors at one of these churches, and will work with City Mission to develop their skills in community engagement and advocacy. As a cohort, residents will support each other in reflecting on the evolving relationship between the church and its urban surroundings.
UPMP is part of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Thriving in Ministry project, an initiative that supports pastors in times of key professional transitions by building relationships with experienced clergy and each other.
How to Apply
Applications are welcome and encouraged by recent (no more than 3 years) seminary graduates with demonstrated interest in urban ministry. Applicants should be engaged in a discernment process for ordination in their denomination, or already ordained.
