Dean’s Forum: “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”

November 5, 2020 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

The body of Christ is one and we want Gordon-Conwell to reflect that. A diverse panel of faculty will reflect on how we can be the body—diverse yet with full equity and genuine inclusion.

The Dean’s Forum discussion is free and is open to the public. RSVP is required for those who are planning to attend in person. NO RSVP NEEDED IF YOU PLAN TO WATCH ONLINE. Lunch will be provided to those who will be attending in person.

Registration closes on Thursday, October 29.

The Dean’s Forum is hosted by the Hamilton Dean’s office. The event will take place in Alumni Hall in the Kerr Building on the Hamilton campus of the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and will be streamed live through Facebook and at www.gcts.edu/live.

Alumni Hall has a (COVID) capacity of 50. ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE SUBMITTED RSVPs WILL BE ALLOWED ENTRY TO THE EVENT.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Mateus de CamposAssistant Professor of New Testament and Director of Formation and Leadership Development. is originally from Brazil where he served as a pastor for ten years at the Church of the Nazarene in Americana. His areas of expertise include the Gospel of Mark, the Synoptic Gospels, the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament, and historical Jesus studies. He lives in Middleton, MA, with his wife Renata, and his children Matt and Zoe Victoria.

Matthew KimAssociate Professor of Preaching and Ministry, Director of the Haddon W. Robinson Center for Preaching, Director of Mentored Ministry, joined Gordon-Conwell as faculty in 2012. He is a past president of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and serves on the editorial board of The Journal of the Evangelical Homiletics Society. He is a featured preacher and contributor on PreachingToday.com and facilitates the Preacher’s Book Club through the Center for Preaching. He and his wife, Sarah, have three children.

Kateryna KuzubovaAssistant Professor of Counseling, is originally from Ukraine where she served as a staff member at the InterVarsity (CCX- Ukraine) fellowship. She received a doctorate in Counselor Education from the University of Toledo and has worked in mental health agencies and an integrated care clinic providing counseling services to children, adolescents, families and adults. Her mother languages are Russian and Ukrainian.

Stephen Macchia, is the Founding President of Leadership Transformations, Inc., a ministry devoted to developing leadership in church and parachurch ministry settings with a strong emphasis on the spiritual formation of leaders and teams. He is also the Director of the Pierce Center for Disciple Building and teaches in the Doctor of Ministry at GCTS. He is the author of fifteen books, including Becoming A Healthy Disciple (Baker Books, 2004), Becoming A Healthy Team (Baker Books, 2005) and Crafting a Rule of Life (IVP, 2012).

Virginia WardDean of the Boston Campus and Executive Director for the Northeast Region, comes with extensive experience as an urban pastor, ministry organizer, and youth ministry expert. A third-generation minister, Rev. Ward is an Associate Pastor at Abundant Life Church where her husband Bishop Larry Ward is the Senior Pastor. She co-authored the book It’s Personal: Five Questions You Should Answer To Give Every Kid Hope, and she conducts research on ethnic/multi-ethnic youth and family ministry. She resides in Boston with her husband and they have two adult sons.
